Indian Street Bridge: Connecting Palm City with the City of Stuart

FHWA Approval

Project Approved

On October 19, 2006, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) granted Location and Design Concept Acceptance (LDCA) for the Federal-aid project in Martin County, Florida, locally known as the Indian Street Bridge Project. The proposed improvements begin at the intersection with Florida’s Turnpike and CR 714 (Martin Highway) and continue along Martin Highway and SW 36th Street, with a new bridge structure over the South Fork of the St. Lucie River connecting with Indian Street at the SR 76 (Kanner Highway) intersection and extending to just east of Willoughby Boulevard.

The project proposes the improvement of Martin Highway and SW 36th Street from two to four lanes. This project will serve as an alternate route to SR 714 and the Palm City Bridge. This project will now proceed to the next phases of development, Final Design and Right of Way.

The FHWA Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and Record of Decision (ROD) can be viewed and downloaded from this website.
